Hello World
Happy new year!
Hello everyone. I am Onur from Turkey. This is my first post about game development. Since I started using computers at the age of 8, as many of you I started with playing games and Prince of Persia was the first game I played on a computer. Then I had Atari 2600, NES, Sega Mega Drive, PlayStation 2, 3 and Portable. I have played many games through years and I believe it is time to make my own games.
I crated this blog to share my experience during this process, also planning to post some reference and progress reports.
Godot game engine is my goto engine for game development. It is free and one of the best 2D engines in the market. It is using its own scripting language: GDscript which is similar to python. Engine comes with everything a 2D game developer needs. I don't have much experience about 3D engine but people are looking forward to get new 3D features that comes with new 3.0 version. I will be using version 2.0 which is currently stable.
Making art and graphics are not my strong suit. But I love how games made with vectorial graphics look like and I will try to focus on Inkscape for this purpose. It is a vector graphics editor and it should be enough make good looking games.
That's it for now. We will start our first game project soon.

Why?
I love building and learning stuff and making a game is just a magnificent experience. And it was always my dream to make games. The first reason I started learning programming is because of dream of making games. That was years ago, I have some programming background but absolutely no experience about game development.I crated this blog to share my experience during this process, also planning to post some reference and progress reports.
Tools
I am also a free (as in freedom) software developer and have been using Linux for years. I'll try to use free softwares during development and try to avoid non-free softwares as much as possible. I believe all the tools Linux provides are enough to make a proper game, but if you are serious about game development I can't give you any guarantee that free softwares will be enough for you.Godot game engine is my goto engine for game development.
